Some Interesting Resources for Human Science
There are lots of places on the internet to turn to for information about the Human Sciences. Here are some of my favorites.
What puts the "science" in social science? Today we'll explore positivist sociology and how sociologists use empirical evidence to explore questions about the social world. We'll also introduce two alternatives: interpretative sociology and critical sociology. Crash Course is made with Adobe Creative Cloud. Crash Course Sociology
This is the single best place to go for information on Sociology. This video highlights methodology, but other videos in this series are useful as well.
Why do people buy the stuff they buy? In classical economics, most models assume that consumers behave rationally. As you've probably noticed in your real life, in case after case, people don't actually make rational decisions. There can be emotional or social reasons for all this irrationality, and behavioral economics tries to address this.
Crash Course Economics:
This video is part of a larger series on economics, but I find this one particularly useful for ToK.
Start learning today with SkillShare: https://skl.sh/upandatom2 The quantum computer game I talked about: https://phys.cam/game/ Alan Turing proved that the Halting Problem was impossible for Turing machines (computers) to solve. Come find out how. Hi! I'm Jade. Subscribe to Up and Atom for new physics, math and computer science videos every week!
Up and Atom
Up and Atom makes mostly Physics videos, but from time to time Jade will give us a gem like this to help the Human Sciences.
Transhumanism is a scientific philosophy that says technology will solve all our human biological constraints and that immortality is right around the corner (well not RIGHT around the corner, but WAYYY closer). They envision a world of endlessly euphoric robo-humans that represent the next step in evolution.
PBS IDEA Channel:
Here's a great explanation of some interesting theories within the human sciences including the Hedonic Treadmill.
The 2018 PBSDS viewer survey 🎉(please please do this!) https://to.pbs.org/2018YTSurvey The Big Five personality test: http://www.personal.psu.edu/~j5j/IPIP/ You're not a static personality type like tests such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Suggest. Rather, you're a dynamic interaction of personality traits that can be shaped over time. ORDER BRAINCRAFT MERCH! 🧠https://store.dftba.com/collections/braincraft SUBSCRIBE to BrainCraft!
Brain Craft on PBS Digital:
Brain Craft is a great resource for anyone looking to study the human sciences and methodology. Here is a video about personality tests.

SUBSCRIBE to BrainCraft! http://ow.ly/rt5IE BrainCraft was created by Vanessa Hill (@nessyhill) and is brought to you by PBS Digital Studios. Talking psychology, neuroscience & why we act the way we do.
Brain Craft (again)
Seriously, if you're studying the Human Sciences in Theory of Knowledge it is worth looking at her full library. Here's another one on Immigration, Empathy and Psychology.
You can directly support Crash Course at http://www.subbable.com/crashcourse Subscribe for as little as $0 to keep up with everything we're doing. Also, if you can afford to pay a little every month, it really helps us to continue producing great content. So how do we apply the scientific method to psychological research?
